I heard Jiu-Jitsu has a lot of contact and sparring; isn't it dangerous to my child?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not only the most effective approach to self-defense and hand-to-hand combat, but is also the most natural way of fighting. Very often you will hear or see a 5 or 6 year-old saying to their friends, "Hey, let's wrestle!”  At Gracie Barra, children learn to "wrestle" consciously and safely.

During the sparring sessions they will apply the techniques learned under controlled yet realistic situations. They learn to manage their energy and build a strategy based on their strengths to be able to score points and achieve their goals. Sounds serious, right? Well, come to watch one of our classes and you can see how much fun our students have during sparring. They love it and it’s the time they look forward to most in class.
